Hi, it’s Bart here. I play guitar in Nieviem from Lincoln UK, and I’m also the drummer of South Holland Indecency Team from Boston UK. I grew up in Poland but I’ve been living in the UK for the last 14 years.
It’s hard to name three records only, as I love plenty of bands and music genres which I take my inspiration from, but if we talk about which of them had an impact on me, these are three which came up first.
Guns N’ Roses – Appetite For Destruction
It’s not something that I listen to these days haha, but Guns N’ Roses were the very first band that took me into rock music. I grabbed this album when I was about ten years old, and it was heavier than anything else I used to listen to. Riffs, solos, band’s image made a massive impression on me. I fell in love with them for the next few years. I remember when my aunt noticed my interest in this kind of music, she bombed me with plenty of other similar rock bands and this is how my music journey began.
Biohazard – Urban Discipline
As far as I remember, Biohazard were the next important stop in my music journey, and they still are one of the most important and favourite bands ever. I listen to this album even these days. “Punishment” is obviously a masterpiece and one of hardcore’s anthems, but it’s hard to point to my favourite song. I love every single track from this album. Drum intro from “Wrong Side Of The Tracks” sparked my interest in drumming.
Rise Against – The Sufferer & the Witness
Believe or not, I never heard about them until one of my friends gave me this album, as she didn’t like it, and…………………I said “Fuck! This is a mixture of everything I like”. I bought all previous albums straight away, and some of them were even better than this one, but “The Sufferer & the Witness” made a massive impact on me, as it was the first of their albums I heard and the one which took me into them. Rise Against is one of my top bands and they’re a massive part of my inspiration, not only for Nieviem but also for drumming in South Holland Indecency Team. This album has great riffs, melodies, amazing lyrics with a massive message behind them and obviously it’s something that I listen to on a daily basis.
Nieviem is a skate punk band from Lincoln, UK.
