Marty – Anna’s Anchor

And So I Watch You From Afar – Self Titled
This one’s fresh in my mind as I went to the 10 year anniversary show for this record last weekend in Belfast but this is by far the album thats had the biggest impact on me. I discovered ASIWYFA when I started uni and went to see them at our small local venue at the time called Bakers. It was a great time for the local music scene and ASIWYFA were just breaking out at the time. That album and those memories became an important part of my formative years and really made me want to be in a band.

Windings – I Am Not The Crow
This record is from a local Limerick band and it was a total game changer for me. It made me realise that if I wanted to make it happen, I too could be in a brand that tours and releases albums because these were local guys that I could see regularly and they were doing it. Being in a proper band was no longer this mystical thing anymore. The whole album is a master piece and Something Outnumbered is still to this day one of my all time favourite songs.

Tycho – Awake
This has probably been my most listened to album of the last couple of years. The different layers and textures of sounds in this music is something else. It really relax’s me and going forward, I want to try and incorporate similar elements into my own music.

Anna’s Anchor is the indie Alt/Rock project of Limerick musician Marty Ryan. You can listen to his tunes on Bandcamp.
